Dusk
The sun
receded peacefully
Melting in the new-born night,
While clouds took leave on chariots
That rode the day's last spears of light.
An era brought to
twilight
While color swarmed the aged sky,
And filled it with a character
That none I knew would dare belie.
A breeze emerged to
soothe the trees
And cool the earth in quiet flow.
Remnants of what came before
Dissolved into the fading glow.
Standing in the
half-light,
I watched as time brought down the day,
Dismantling what was known to me
And leaving me amid the grey.
